Custom built 505 GIBBS by Richard Triebel of Namibia

African Workhorse

This incredible dangerous-game rifle was actioned by Richard Triebel of Windhoek, Namibia in 1973/4.  The Buhmiller (maker of Wimbledon Cup rifles) 25 1/2" barrel with 1 standing and 1 folding rear sight, sporting style front sight and integral tank-style muzzle brake is similar to those used during the Korean War for sniper rifles.  The weight is a proper 10 1/2 lbs. with 14 5/8" LOP.  The Brevex Magnum Mauser action was supplied by Bundock.  The very special Circassian walnut stock blank was warehoused by Harrison's of Salisbury, Rhodesia for more than five years.  Triebel had a major problem with the wood as the fiddle back pattern and secondary wood grain was running in cross directions, difficult to work but extremely strong.  There are two recoil lugs.  The checkering is hand-cut and very bold for sweaty palms.  The recoil is very mild from this well-balanced rifle.  EAW quick detachable mounts are ready to accept your favorite scope.

$14,000

The sale of this rifle includes a sealed box of ten 525 gn. 505 cartridges by Kynoch and a three die .505 Gibbs set by RCBS.
